They constitute only 14% of cancer trial participants and face 47% lower odds of enrolling in trials. These disparities may stem from systemic barriers, unconscious bias, or lack of inclusiveness, limiting our understanding of diverse health outcomes.

The importance of diversity, strategies for building diversity in datasets used to generate RWE, and how RWE can be used to address health disparities. Earlier this year, I moderated an awesome panel at the Precision Medicine World Congress 2023 in Silicon Valley with some highly distinguished individuals, including Dr. Robert A. On September 27th, I joined a panel discussion focused on “Accelerating Drug Development With Real World Evidence: New Developments, the Opportunities and the Policy Agenda” moderated by Kellie Combs, a partner at Ropes & Gray LLP, and Bill Guenther, the CEO of Mass Insight Global Partnerships. The panel explored the RWE opportunities through emerging case study examples, considered the impact of recent regulatory decisions, and reviewed what’s on the horizon in the marketplace and for the policy agenda.
